Changing Stars Malawi

Our Sponsored Children

We are proud to support Lesley and her team with their amazing charity.

To sponsor one child it costs £50, this £50 per year will;

-Send a child to school
-Pay for their uniform
-Buy a big bag of maize for the family
-Pay for a carpenter to make 3 school desks and chairs

This is a minimal amount to some families, if each one of our parents donated £50 each we would raise almost £9000 for this amazing charity!

Lesley and her team have achieved so much in such a short space of time, they are really making a difference to children's lives and their education.

We will be holding lots of fundraising events over the next few months to support this charity, if you would like to become more involved please let us know.

Below are the children we have sponsored so far. We will continue to donate throughout the upcoming months/years, each child will take a special, well deserved place in our gallery...
The story behind Changing Stars Malawi

The Dawson family have been involved in projects in Malawi since 2009 when Joe, the eldest of three boys, visited with his school in Leeds. His two brothers, Mattie and Charlie visited for their first time in 2012, and 2015 respectively.

Since 2015, Charlie has been visiting much more regularly for 3 months each year and has made many contacts both in Blantyre and also in Cape Maclear, a more rural village on the shores of Lake Malawi. Charlie, a primary school teacher, is moving to Malawi permanently in summer 2020 to run the charity.

As a result the whole family supported by the family business, Children’s Corner Childcare, have now become involved in a number of projects across Malawi.

In 2018 clients, friends and associates were invited to sponsor a child to go to school. This project has proven to be so successful and will be the main focus of the charity going forward.

The family made the decision to set up a formal charity in the UK which can support the work in Malawi, so that there is a clear vision going forward. It was also important to have total transparency and accountability for the funds being raised.

Two other trustees were invited to join the family and their contribution/support is greatly appreciated too.

Every single pound donated by our sponsors is spent directly on the children. CCC covers all expenses of anyone who visits on their behalf to forward the aims of the charity.

Their Mission

To create an enduring legacy by inspiring, nurturing and providing a holistic education of the most vulnerable children in Malawi.
.
We will engage with local communities to enable all children, regardless of gender, ethnicity, ability, or economic capacity, to receive an education with ambitions to open doors of possibilities so that each child can achieve their potential.
.
We will only provide support in co-operation with the local community. We will offer our own time, training, mentoring and if required financial support to assist people to make sustainable improvements within their own communities.
.
We will facilitate the sponsorship of school fees for children/students identified as the most vulnerable and needy but only with the engagement and support of their parents/relatives.
.
Our activities will not be restricted to any one particular project but where it is needed the most and where it will have a long term and sustainable impact.
